In October of 1958, Roger G. Crewse became the First Editor of the Interceptor magazine. Over the next 90 days, Roger along with two fighter pilots, Harry Tindale and John Lane, Craig Schafer, and SSgt Rolf Docterman, top-notch illustrators, TSgt Nick Zetta managing editor, and Ann Malcolm, their gal Friday published the first Interceptor magazine on January 1, 1959. With absolutely no experience in 90 days they decided on what it was going to look like, learned how to put together the departments, write the articles, type set the magazine, and contract for publishing. Roger wrote his first Coolstone for this issue. Ultimately Roger would be known throughout Air Forces all over the world for his Coolstone series of articles. This is the story of How the Interceptor Was Born.
